Oil analysis (7)

Lubricant/oil analysis is a crucial step in the routine maintenance of your equipment, as it provides a quick and easy way to check the condition of your equipment, parts and lubricant. Lubricant analysis is usually carried out during a routine service check. By monitoring the results of the analysis over the lifetime of the equipment, it is possible to identify signs that indicate machine failure. Particle analysis, on oil filters, can reveal many deficiencies in the condition of your machine, identifying the size and type of particles in the oil and the mode/rate of wear.

Lubricant analysis brings a number of important benefits, such as the timely identification of potential equipment failures and high repair costs. The analysis detects equipment performance problems that are otherwise difficult to detect or observe (e.g. fuel/oil mixing), checks the lubricant's lubricating ability and determines the optimum service interval.

The use of a higher quality lubricant will generally result in longer lubricant change intervals. Optimum use of lubricants reduces the amount of new and waste oil consumed. This saves resources and reduces the impact of waste oil on our environment.
