Gear reducers are key elements in powertrain technology, adapting the torque and speed of the engine to the requirements of the machine being worked on. They are used to reduce engine speed and increase torque. A reduction gear can be used to change the direction of power transmission. Gear reducers have a very wide range of applications. They are indispensable in conveyor belt drives, machine tools and cranes. Gear reducers can be single or multi-stage, depending on the gear ratio required, with special versions such as worm gears for high ratios.

Gearboxes

Gear reducers are gears, the intermediate link between the drive and the work machine, which transmit power and adjust torque and speed to the requirements of the work machine. Gear reducers are used in applications where the engine speed is reduced while the torque is increased. A gear reducer can also be used to change the direction of power transmission, as the axes of the gear reducer and the engine can be coaxial or perpendicular. Gear reducers have a very wide range of applications. They are indispensable for conveyor belt drives, machine tools and cranes. They can be single or multi-stage, depending on the gear ratio. The gear stage is represented by a gear pair in the rack and pinion. In a multi-stage gear drive, there are several gear pairs in the meshing and they are connected to each other in such a way as to reduce the rotational speed of the driven shaft. A special version is the so-called worm gear, which has a high gear ratio.

Our product range consists of gear reducers and drive shafts (off-axis or on-axis), worm gears, planetary gears, gear drives, gear reducers with motor, variators, gear reducer accessories. For some models you can choose between aluminium or grey cast iron housing. All models are modular, which means that different power units can be fitted. From our own stock, an electric motor with gear reducer can be delivered in one day. We have gear reducers from renowned manufacturers Motovario, Wittenstein, BEA, Renold and many others.

We help designers calculate machine drives and advise on how to choose the right planetary, coaxial and angular gear reducer.

An effective use of a gear reducer is to transmit torque through the teeth of the gear pairs that are in meshing. Each gear pair represents one stage of reduction. A gear reducer may combine several such gear pairs in its housing. The final reduction is the product of all the partial reductions. Very large gear ratios can be achieved in this way. A gear reducer with a large gear ratio achieves a very high output torque with a low input power and thus a high efficiency of the machine or plant.

The gear reducers are characterised by the fact that the gears are able to transmit the rotational motion of the highest power. They have either fixed or variable gear ratios. They are small in size and take up little space. The design can be adapted to the machine. The gearbox housings are made of cast aluminium or cast steel and the gears are made of high-alloy, heat-treated steels and special non-ferrous metal alloys.
